About the organisation

Organisation Name : Minus18 Foundation

Minus18 is Australia’s youth-driven charity for LGBTIQ young people, fighting homophobia, transphobia, biphobia and intersexphobia. We support LGBTIQ youth through events and volunteer development, and provide fee-for-service LGBTIQ workshops to schools, businesses and community organisations.

Grounded in our social impact mission and values, a strong commercial focus unpins all of our activities to fund their implementation, including driving an ecommerce store, selling education packages, and building commercial partnerships and event sponsorship opportunities.

We’re a rapidly growing team of 8 staff and 20 volunteers doing big things - and we’d love for you to join us.

  • Our dynamic start up culture and period of growth means your ideas have a big impact on the whole organisation and its future.
  • Social impact is at the forefront of everything we do. There’s nothing better than working with a team of people who care as much as you do, while seeing the result of your work put a smile on the face of an LGBTIQ young person.
  • You will lead a high performing team of intrapreneurial young people; and be part of a larger vibrant youth movement inspiring the leaders of tomorrow.
  • Salary packaging is available, reducing your tax and resulting in more take home pay.

About the role

We’re looking for an exceptional people leader and business planner to become our next Operations Manager (OM). Complementing the CEO’s strategic and brand-focused role, the OM role focuses largely on driving internal excellence: mentoring and developing Minus18’s diverse staff, leading program planning, and identifying new operational opportunities in line with the Minus18 Strategic Plan.

The OM is the team motivator and internal leader, inspiring staff to achieve their best, and working with our dynamic teams to create clearly documented operation plans and goals, in line with the Strategic Plan set by the Minus18 Board and CEO. You’ll work across a variety of programs, with a particular focus on youth events, volunteer engagement, & LGBTIQ workshops.

Minus18 is growing fast, and as the ‘second in command’ for our amazing organisation, you’ll have unique opportunities to contribute to the national LGBTIQ conversation, representing Minus18 at public forums and stakeholder events.

Lastly, and most importantly, as OM, your ability to build ‘awesome culture’ through empathetic leadership, strong and clear communication processes, professionalism, boundary setting and leading by example in team building initiatives will be crucial to your success.
