Based in a newly refurbished corporate space in Melbourne CBD, Leo Cussen is truly proud of its offering, is passionate, innovative and has a strong performance resolve.  It now wishes to recruit for the position of Director of Practical Legal Training. 

About the role

Reporting to the Executive Director and ultimately the Board of the Leo Cussen Centre for Law, the Director Practical legal Training (PLT) will form part of the senior management team. 

You will be responsible for providing educational and strategic leadership and will contribute to the overall strategic, educational and business development of the organisation.  Your responsibilities will include: leading the ongoing curriculum review; managing the planning and development of the courses; ensuring continuous improvementleading teaching staff to maintain performance and to develop their educational expertise; providing effective leadership to and managing the Practical Legal Training department; investigating and determining any action regarding performance issues involving students; ensuring compliance with general governance requirements; monitoring and controlling expenditure relating to the course; and developing and leading innovative approaches to  business development opportunities You will be responsible for leading the development and training of all staff in your department. 

The ideal candidate for this role will hold a law degree and, ideally, a Bachelor degree or higher level qualification in an educational discipline or equivalent experience Tertiary qualifications in business, management or a related discipline are desirable but not essential. A current legal practising certificate is required for this role. 

You offer experience in legal education or training and have, at some time in your career, gained significant experience in legal practice In addition, you will have experience in managing and developing staff, and in developing and leading new programs and projects to meet business and educational needs. 

You are organised, enthusiastic, dynamic and have strong communication skills.  Further, you bring a pragmatic approach, an enjoyment of a high level of responsibility, flexibility and adaptability.
