About the organisation
The Volunteer West Volunteer Program is a matching service whereby volunteer opportunities are advertised and prospective volunteers are invited to attend an interview, discuss their interests and be referred to a community organisation. This service is provided by volunteers and is targeted to people who are disadvantaged.
Volunteer West provides information, support and network meetings for 256 community organisations. These range from very small groups run entirely by volunteers to large charities. We also offer training services to our Volunteer Manager Network.
Volunteer West is also very active in advocacy work at a statewide and national level, representing the needs of communities in Melbourne's West in regard to volunteering. This work includes membership of various networking groups.
About the role
Volunteer West is a volunteer Resource Centre based in Altona covering the six local government areas of Melbourne’s West. We are establishing a Youth Advisory Council and in order to inform this process we are undertaking research into young people and volunteering.
This role will focus on providing an overview of previous research in Australia, developing an on-line survey and analysing the results to formulate a written report.
Previous experience undertaking community based research will be highly regarded.
