About the organisation
Gymnastics Western Australia is the governing body for the sport of gymnastics in Western Australia. The Association has 46 member clubs, 5 associate members and over 17,550 athlete members (2019). Located just out of the city centre in Leederville, the Association vision is for Gymnastics to be the foundation of movement for all. Gymnastics WA provides the opportunity for participation in gymnastic programs, competitions, development programs and activities which are accessible, no matter the experience, skill or age.
Pathways are also provided for individuals who strive for intrastate, state, or the ultimate, national selection representing Australia at the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, World Championships and other international events.

About the role
Reporting to the Board through the President, the Executive Director provides leadership, direction and overall management of all activities, business operations and services delivered by Gymnastics WA. The role also works with the Board in the developing and implementing of long term strategy, to achieve the organisation’s vision.
This role requires a dynamic leader with strong communication skills who is able to engage with diverse stakeholder groups and demonstrate the ability to develop and nurture key relationships within the gymnastics community, including committees, coaches, officials, volunteers and administrators at the grass root to high performance level. In addition to operational excellence the role has a focus on building participation and membership, whilst developing and maintaining partnership between stakeholder groups, commercial, funding partners and Member Clubs/Associate Members.
To be considered for this role you will have a track record in strategic leadership, staff and operational management with a focus on member services. Experience or training in finance and/or law would be beneficial for the position. You will have demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and activities at once whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail, delivering projects both on time and on budget.
An understanding of the state and national sporting landscape including high performance, and an understanding and appreciation of gymnastics will be an advantage but it is not a necessity; however you must be committed to building strong foundations for the growth of the sport in Western Australia.

About The Applicant
The applicant must possess:
- A tertiary qualification in business, management or a related discipline and/or extensive relevant experience
- 5 years+ in leadership positions, ideally in the sport sector
- Experience in organisational, financial, risk and commercial management with the ability to mentor and manage staff
- An understanding of marketing and public relations
- The ability to set clear priorities, delegate and guide investment in people and systems
- Keen analytic, organisational and problem solving skills
- Superior presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
As the Executive Director you will work effectively with a Board of Directors and build strong relationships with varied stakeholders to take the sport of Gymnastics to the next stage of growth in Western Australia.
Remuneration
The position is full time; however, a flexible approach to working hours is required due to the nature of working within a state sporting association. The nature of the position requires some out of hours and weekend work, which is recognised in the remuneration package offered. The remuneration package will be negotiable dependent upon qualifications and experience. The position will be offered as an initial two year contract, with the view to extend for a further three years.
