About the role

Recruitment of Board Chair and a Non-Executive Director

Wayss is the leading provider of services for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness or family violence in the South Eastern region of Melbourne. Wayss supports all people facing homelessness and family violence to have a safe, secure and affordable home that helps them to live a better life. Over the last 3 years, the organisation has undergone a significant transformation led by the current Chair. With a new strategy and a recently appointed CEO and Management team, the Board is now looking to take the organisation to the next level.  Wayss’ current board comprises philanthropists, strategists, educators, economists, marketers and psychologists alongside other experienced business leaders working hard to end homelessness and domestic violence.

Wayss is seeking to appoint two new members to its Board:

  • Board Chair: A well credentialed and deeply experienced Board Chair to replace the current Chair. The current Chair is stepping back to be a NED will continue to be an active Board member.
  • One NED: An additional Non-Executive Director is sought to replace a recent Board member Wayss is keen to appoint to this role a candidate with strong local experience and community engagement.

Board Chair Role: The incoming Board Chair will likely be or have been previous experience as a board chair and senior executive in the commercial or public sector. They will have strong networks and have a good grasp of the interconnection between NFPs, government and philanthropic sources. Working with the CEO and Board members, the Chair will have the energy, commitment and personal attributes to play a key role in driving the organisation forward to provide a significant uplift in services.

Non-Executive Director Role: In the new NED, the Board is seeking good sector knowledge together with strong connections and commitment to the South Eastern Region.

Both roles are available on a pro-bono basis.
