We are currently seeking applications for a part-time (0.4 FTE) Youth Peer Worker. This
position is fixed term and available until 30 June 2021 with possible renewal subject to
funding.
The Youth Peer Worker will work within the team at headspace Melton, and will be part of an
initiative that recognises the importance of the youth voice within all aspects of service
delivery at our headspace centres. The successful candidate will coordinate and deliver
headspace programs and initiatives aimed at educating young people in the community about
core aspects of early intervention across the four domains of mental health, physical health,
alcohol and other drugs, and work and study. This role will also include opportunities to work
directly with young people in a non-clinical capacity, drawing on one’s own experiences to
support them in various aspects of their journey with headspace.
As a guide, remuneration of $55,842 – $60,940 per annum pro rata plus superannuation is
offered, dependent on skills and experience; plus, NFP salary packaging opportunities also
available to the successful candidate.

About you
To be considered you will need:
- Aged between 18 and 24 years.
- Personal experience of challenges with any of the following: mental health, physical
health, alcohol and other drug and/or work and study. - Passion, energy and determination to make a difference to health outcomes for young
people. - Experience or knowledge of peer work/youth participation principles/frameworks.
- Capacity to problem solve effectively, engage and work creatively with young people.
- Capacity and willingness to conduct presentations and programs to large groups of
people, including young people and adults. - Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills to, communicate warmly
and effectively with young people, liaise, build relationships and partnerships, and consult
and negotiate with a wide variety of stakeholders.
