Dementia Australia is the national peak body representing the 459,000 Australians living with dementia and almost 1.6 million Australians involved in their care. Formed in 2017 after bringing together all state and territory organisations, Dementia Australia advocates for the needs of people living with all types of dementia, for their families and carers, and provides support services, education and information. The organisation supports the countries top dementia researchers to find treatments, disease altering interventions and one day a cure. They are committed to achieving a dementia-friendly Australia where people with dementia are respected, supported, empowered, and engaged in community life.
Reporting to the Senior Community Fundraising Team Leader and based in the Melbourne office, the Community Fundraising Coordinator will join a dedicated fundraising team with great culture and opportunities for career development. You will be responsible for assisting the growth of community fundraising revenue, community development and cultivating lasting supporters through a number of traditional and digital mediums.
As well as coordinating and growing existing community fundraising campaigns (such as third party fundraising and live events) and increasing income through community fundraising, you will be the main contact for community fundraising supporters; spending time speaking to and building relationships with supporters and continuously ensuring a high level of engagement and support. You will play an important role in recruiting and stewarding community fundraising participants for existing events related to Dementia Australia’s flagship campaign, Memory Walk & Jog, through state-wide promotion and targeted engagement, as well as providing support across all fundraising events and activities. You will be creative, adaptable, proactive and ready to roll up your sleeves and give anything a go, including speaking at events when necessary.
You will be a passionate, energetic and driven person with excellent communication (both verbal and written) and organisational skills. You will also have proven experience in managing projects and using online fundraising platforms. A genuine interest in the charity sector, along with qualifications in fundraising and competency with Microsoft Office and the Adobe Cloud suite of products will be highly regarded.
