RUSU is the RMIT University Student Union run by annually elected student representatives. RUSU has many student run departments including, Activities & Events, Catalyst Magazine, Clubs & Societies, Indigenous, RMITV, Student Rights, Sustainability, Postgraduate, Queer, Welfare and Education and Women. 

RUSU a fast paced, student focused, diverse and inclusive organisation that provides parental leave and flexible working conditions (per the RUSU EA 2020).

Your skills in the volunteer management, mentoring, student/community engagement and program administration will be utilised to assist and support RMIT students and the varied RUSU Volunteer programs.

In this role you will:

  • Recruit – Volunteers and coordinate and monitor the volunteer program across all Melbourne RMIT campuses.
  • Support – Working student volunteers by running the daily Compass drop-in centre and assisting students who present with a broad range of welfare issues.
  • Lead & Mentor – Support and mentor the dedicated RMIT Social Work, Youth Work and Psychology students who volunteer with Compass.
  • Reach Out – You will have the chance to plan, run and deliver outreach events across all of RMIT Melbourne campuses that serve to enrich and support the student population.
  • Create Change – Identify key welfare issues affecting RMIT students and contribute to appropriate responses, including providing input into research and campaigns.
  • Educate & Motivate – Work towards increasing the welfare literacy of the RMIT student and staff body through information and education events and activities.

This is a part time role working 4 days per week (Monday – Thursday), based at RMIT City Campus.

Applicants MUST have a tertiary degree with at least 3 years’ experience working with and resourcing volunteers to be considered for this position.
