Our Service

Established in 2006, the Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria (NMHPV) has a proud history of providing support to nurses, midwives and students of nursing and midwifery throughout Victoria.

NMHPV is a free, confidential and independent support service for nurses, midwives and students experiencing sensitive health issues related to their mental health, substance use, family violence or any issue impacting their health and wellbeing.

NMHPV also supports employers, managers, and People and Culture personnel to promote health and wellbeing amongst their nursing and midwifery workforce.

NMHPV was designed by nurses and works within a recovery focused counselling framework, provided exclusively by experienced nurses and midwives.

Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria (NMHPV) could be the workplace for you.

NMHPV is an independent support service for nurses, midwives and students of nursing and midwifery experiencing health issues related to their substance use, mental health and family violence concerns.

We offer a safe entry point into the service system which provides sensitive and compassionate screening, assessment, referrals, direct individual support and groups for those seeking help to manage these health concerns. In addition, we promote and welcome contact with industry leaders, managers and human resource personnel in relation to supporting their nurses and midwives who are experiencing these health issues.

The position of Senior Clinician requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the nursing or midwifery field with demonstrated experience in alcohol & other drug work and experience in the mental health field. The position exists within a small team of nurses and midwives which operates in Melbourne, with state-wide exposure, accountable to the CEO.

The successful applicant will be a registered nurse or registered midwife who has demonstrated experience in engaging, supporting and caring for those with substance use and mental health concerns. They will be able to work successfully alongside these colleagues to assist them in regaining optimum health, whilst taking a profession specific approach to their care. They will be insightful, caring and compassionate.

They will also successfully engage and maintain strong collaborative relationships with a wide variety of key industry stakeholders across Victoria including, but not limited to, those within public and private health services, academic settings and industrial organisations. These relationships are important to enable the distribution of key health messages within their specialty areas and organisations.

This is a 4 day a week position paid as a Grade 4B. As a not-for-profit organisation, NMHPV staff are entitled to an attractive Salary Packaging arrangement. Other terms of employment as per the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Health Sector) Enterprise Agreement.

Occupational group: Nursing. Midwifery.

Workplace Location: Based in Richmond, Victoria. The successful applicant will be required to travel within Victoria periodically.

Job duration: Funding exists until 2023 with a possible extension.
