The Australian Education Union (AEU) is the federal union for teachers, principals, support staff and all educators working in public education.

The Role
In your role as Executive Officer, you will provide professional support to the Federal Secretary and Federal President in assisting them to carry out the responsibilities of their role.
Specifically you will:
- Manage and coordinate AEU’s publications TAFE Teacher and Australian Educator
- Conceptualise compelling and engaging stories that resonate with AEU’s membership base
- Source and write content for publication including; editing and design lay out
- Manage and work collaboratively with external publishing agency
- Respond to policy specific correspondence and prepare briefing papers and reports
- Support and manage engagement with key allies of the Union
- Work with AEU Branches on ad-hoc projects such as internal policy development
- Assist in the administration of the AEU International Development Cooperation Program
Skills Required
You are a highly motivated professional with experience working within an educational policy, advocacy or political setting and have a track record of delivering high quality and creative written content. You can also demonstrate:
- Outstanding written communication, editing and proofreading skills
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
- Ability to develop networks and collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing demands
- Knowledge of and commitment to public education and unionism
