The Can Too Foundation is an independent health promotion charity that transforms lives through fun, fitness, friendship and fundraising. Can Too offers professionally coached training programs across NSW and Queensland using qualified and experienced Coaches plus caring Mentors and Team Captains. Can Too trains all levels, from beginners to more experienced athletes, in structured training programs tailored to specific physical challenges such as running races, ocean swims, trail walking and adventure challenges, offering an opportunity for personal growth and transformation. In return, participants raise funds for ground-breaking cancer research by early-career Australian scientists at reputable medical research institutions.

Can Too has now trained over 17,000 people within Australia who have raised almost $25 million to fund around 200 cancer researchers and is well poised to continue to deliver on its purpose and grow its impact. As the Australian community grapples with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, under the leadership of its next CEO, Can Too will embark on a process to formulate a new three year strategic plan to deliver significant growth and potential diversification of activities/regions from a financially sound base and highly engaged community. Reporting to the Board, the CEO is responsible for driving the strategic direction of the organisation, carefully balancing Can Too’s impact agenda with the ability to deliver operational excellence and maintain commercial viability. The CEO will be expected to provide leadership and inspiration for staff, partners, stakeholders and the community in the pursuit of Can Too’s mission which is to engage and inspire individuals and the community to achieve personal health, wellbeing and altruistic goals.
 
Experience, knowledge and skills

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Alignment to Can Too’s purpose and impact and a genuine commitment to well-being empowerment.
  • CEO/GM experience in an equivalent sized organisation/business with a proven track record in income generation and growing services/corporate partnerships or diversifying income streams.
  • Excellent multiple stakeholder management skills internally with staff and coaches, as well as externally with business partners, ambassadors, and other supporters.
  • Experience in working with a board to develop a high-quality strategic plan and a demonstrated capability in the effective implementation of strategic and operational plans.
  • The ability to develop robust financial and commercial plans, and budgets to support the strategic plan ensuring financial strength and growth.
  • An inspiring and visionary leadership style that will lead and motivate all stakeholders including staff, the Board, corporate and philanthropic partners, governments and the community more broadly.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to liaise and influence at all levels, both internally and externally including credible presentation skills with an ability to clearly and enthusiastically project the objectives and outcomes of Can Too.
  • A clear understanding of, and an ability to effectively manage risk and an ability to ensure the health and safety of all participants, volunteers, coaches and staff, whilst maximising the participants’ experience.
  • A genuine desire to actively promote the cultural values of Can Too by participating in their training programs such as running, ocean swimming, or cycling.
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion and ESG Principles.
