About the organisation
FRRR is a national charitable foundation focused on increasing equity of opportunity in remote, rural and regional Australia. It adopts a partnership and leverage model of philanthropy which harnesses the collective resources of philanthropy, business, and governments to support rural communities to be vibrant, adaptive, and sustainable. Established in 2000, FRRR has distributed more than $135m to over 12,000 projects across Australia to date.
Our strategy is focussed on improving outcomes in the areas of People, Place, and Disaster Resilience & Climate Solutions. FRRR believes that targeted philanthropic investment and collaboration in these areas will build more vibrant, sustainable, and adaptive remote, rural and regional communities - and a more equitable and prosperous Australia as a whole.
FRRR’s principles of engagement are guided by an understanding that rural, regional, and remote (RRR) communities are in a constant cycle of development and adjustment. As such we support community-led approaches that enable them to:
- Seed & Strengthen by enabling RRR communities to support and resource core social and physical infrastructure;
- Adapt & Evolve by building adaptive capacity across communities and enhancing their ability to cope and adjust to disruption; and/or
- Innovate & Renew by supporting communities to test, scale and embed game-changing initiatives.
To achieve this, we:
- Grant and Develop to provide remote, rural and regional communities with access to grants and capacity building resources and support to address inequity and create opportunities;
- Leverage and Broker to harness FRRR's tax status, knowledge, and networks to support innovation, self-generation, and unlock more giving to address remote, rural and regional community needs; and
- Connect Insights and Learning for policymakers, communities, and funders to connect them with ideas, knowledge and lived experience to influence more targeted and relevant support for rural, regional, and remote communities
Our core values centre around collaboration and constant improvement. We have created a dynamic, flexible, and supportive work environment. FRRR is an Equal Opportunity employer.
About the role
This role is to raise awareness and support the successful implementation of the Rebuilding Regional Communities (RRC) grants – a three year $5 million program to support remote, rural and regional not-for-profit organisations to continue through, and recover from the impacts of COVID-19. The RRC grants will form a separate funding stream within the FRRR Strengthening Rural Communities (SRC) program.
The Rebuilding Regional Communities (RRC) program aims to assist communities to recover from and adapt to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds are available to support for community-led, place based initiatives that:
- enhance the process of recovery of remote, rural and regional communities from the COVID-19 pandemic;
- reduce social isolation and foster stronger, more resilient remote, rural and regional communities.
- sustain local, regional, rural and remote organisations and their work.
The responsibilities for the RRC Facilitation and Communications Officer role are primarily to raise awareness of Rebuilding Regional Communities across regional, rural and remote Australia, particularly in those states that have been hit hardest with COVID-19 ; and to provide support to COVID-19-impacted community groups to develop strong grant applications either for the RRC small grants tier up to $10,000 or larger grants up to $50,000. The role will also provide advice and grant assessment support to FRRR grants teams, identifying and strengthening suitable project proposals for the RRC program.
The RRC Facilitation and Communications Officer will support the delivery of grant seeker workshops across rural and regional Australia, virtually and face to face, as part of a range of community engagement strategies to promote the RRC program. The role will also explore the development of innovative new resources and approaches to support the grant applicant experience.
As part of the SRC grants team, the RRC Facilitation and Communications Officer will assist with SRC program assessment and administration as well as providing ad-hoc support to other areas of the organisation delivering the range of grants programs as directed by the Place Lead.
