About the role
- Ongoing and temporary full-time vacancies. 35 hours per week.
- Location: Sydney metropolitan, Western Sydney metropolitan and Southern region. Flexible and remote working options available.
- Clerk Grade: 5/6. Base salary $87,493 to $96,540 p.a. plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
About the team
The Public Guardian can be appointed by a court or tribunal to make health and lifestyle decisions for people who are unable to on their own, or with support. These include decisions such as where a person might live, their medical and dental treatment, health care, and other services. It also provides information and support to private and enduring guardians, service providers and the wider community. Service Delivery teams provide our core guardianship service across the state.
About the role
A Senior Guardian is responsible for the delivery of Guardianship services to achieve the best possible outcomes for people with disabilities consistent with the Principles of the Guardianship Act, the Public Guardian’s Standards and for undertaking individual and systemic advocacy as required. A Senior Guardian is supervised by a Principal Guardian and reports to the Regional Manager.
We have several ongoing and temporary roles available based in Sydney, Parramatta and Wollongong.

About you
The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of community resources, disability issues and changes in the sector. You will also have experience in developing and implementing decision-making plans and procedures, including preparing reports and recommendations to a variety of audiences. Your ability to engage with a wide variety of people and at times negotiate difficult matters will enable you to achieve the best possible outcome for the persons under guardianship.

Essential requirements
- Degree in social, health, behavioural sciences or related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Available to travel throughout NSW.
