About the role

The mission of the Communications Office is to creatively promote the Good News (the gospel message) across the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne.

Do you have the ability to add value creatively in a fresh and engaging way? We are looking for a new team member who enjoys providing creative direction and design for Archdiocesan materials (web and print), whilst working across a multitude of channels and formats to serve the broader work of evangelisation for the Archdiocese.

This role will suit someone who has a passion for solution-oriented, innovative digital solutions, enjoys collaborating with others, has the ability to juggle multiple projects at once and who is motivated to work within a local and national Church environment.

Flexible working arrangements are available and on occasion you may be required to work outside standard business hours or on weekends.

In this role you will:

  • provide creative direction and graphic design of Archdiocesan assets (print and digital), including the design of flyers, posters, prayer cards, Mass booklets, books, web and social media graphics, email signatures and banners as directed, in line with the Archdiocesan style guide
  • lead the creative direction and design of the regular Melbourne Catholic print publication
  • provide creative advice and concept designs for ministries, Archdiocesan print and digital publications, websites, services, events and related materials
  • maintain a database for promotional resource materials and print publications, as well a suite of branding items for Archdiocesan agencies and stakeholders including stationery, templates and email signatures
  • in collaboration with other members of the Communications Team, effectively use design elements, photography and videography to undertake story development for projects where applicable
  • manage design projects and build relationships with providers and preferred suppliers to enable the best quality and price access for Archdiocesan printing requirements
  • have well-developed UI/ UX skill set with experience in using analytics and user insights to drive design solutions
  • a portfolio showcasing strong design skills
  • have a strong grasp of the Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • have Graduate or Undergraduate degree in Communications or a relevant discipline.
