About the team
The Information & Privacy Officer role is a key part of a small friendly team called the Ministerial & External Relations team. The team is located in the Strategy, People, and Governance division, which provides a wide range of enabling services including audit, risk and compliance, ministerial and external relations, people and culture and policy services.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join a small but dedicated team, which is passionate about contributing to improved outcomes for our customers.
The Information & Privacy Officer will lead the Agency’s commitment to privacy principles and public information access. The role:
- independently processes complex applications under Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) and NSW privacy and health legislation
- Responds to varied and interesting requests for information, and coordinates and actions privacy complaints and breaches
- Provides specialist advice and training to ensure staff are aware of their obligations, as well as supporting compliance with the agency’s privacy and public information access.

About you
We are looking for someone who enjoys working closely with stakeholders and who:
- Has the ability to thrive in a complex, high volume, legislative environment with competing priorities and short turnaround times.
- Has substantial knowledge and previous experience in using the GIPA Act and the NSW Privacy & Health Records Acts in responding to requests for information made under the legislation and informal requests.
- Has solid experience in conducting internal reviews made under the GIPA Act and NSW privacy legislation.
- Is a team player who is great with people, has excellent written and verbal communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Essential requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in law.
- Eligibility to be admitted or admitted as legal practitioner in NSW and have a current NSW practicing certificate.
- Up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination status and able to provide acceptable proof.
