About the role
The Opportunity
Help build an inclusive, empowered and proud community by effectively designing and managing the grants team’s implementation of Council’s grants and awards programs for increased social impact. Build relationships with key stakeholders and strategically leverage further investment in the municipality for community strengthening purposes.
Reporting to the Coordinator Community Capacity, this role is pivotal to the organisation and the life of the Melton community.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, manage implementation, and evaluate Council’s awards and grants program and related streams, with a focus on business improvements and social impact measurement.
- Oversee excellence in governance and administrative accuracy and efficacy in all programs including through the management of program streams, panels, and supervised staff.
- Lead, manage and develop the Grants team, its people and resources, through strategies which provide a positive and productive work environment.
- Support management and leadership across Council to identify and attract government funding.
- Provide advice on the design and governance of grant and funding streams.
- Develop and maintain effective liaison and networks with community groups, government agencies and other relevant stakeholders in the context of identified needs and capacity building.
- Oversee communications and media planning to promote programs and opportunities to diverse audiences.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualification relevant to the role, such as Social Sciences, Economics and Business and/or Community Service Management.
- Highly developed conceptual, oral and written communications skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people from a range of cultures, backgrounds and experiences.
- Experience in managing a small team and contributing in a positive way to staff development.
- Experience in stakeholder management, including building and maintaining effective relationships with community groups and the not for profit sector.
- Ability to maintain high level accuracy whilst working under pressure, with demonstrated experience developing, reviewing and implementing policy and procedures, and accurate reporting to a range of audiences.
- Relevant skills and experience coordinating and administering grant programs in a government/community sector setting, demonstrating high standards of probity, integrity, confidentiality and accountability in the management of public programs and funding.
