About the organisation

Organisation Name : Trust for Nature

Trust for Nature (TfN) is a Victorian not-for-profit organisation that works with a range of stakeholders to protect wildlife and habitats on private land for perpetuity. TfN's covenanting powers underpin a track record of achieving conservation wins in partnership with landowners, to make a practical and timely contribution to addressing the challenges posed by climate change and declining biodiversity.

Trust for Nature’s vision is a future where Victoria's nature is valued, protected and thriving. It pursues this vision with strategies based on conservation science and collaborative partnerships with communities, covenantors, investors and donors. TfN operates under the Victorian Conservation Trust Act 1972 and is partly funded by the Victorian government, deriving the bulk of its income from state and commonwealth government grants, fee for service contracts, and philanthropic donations.

About the role

  • Shape the future of nature conservation in Victoria
  • Build strategic partnerships and opportunities for growth
  • Lead a highly collaborative and committed workforce

As Chief Executive Officer, you will be the driving force in realising TfN’s vision by delivering on all strategic and statutory objectives through effective stakeholder management and leading a passionate and science-driven workforce. You will develop strategies to increase nature conservation outcomes on private land in Victoria, and play a key role in engaging with the community, volunteers, Traditional Owners, government and private donors and benefactors, supporting TfN to continue to grow and diversify its revenue streams.

Your collaborative instincts will also forge new partnerships and see you both advocate for change and increase TfN’s impact and profile among younger Victorians. In addition, you will be a trusted and respected advisor to the Trust’s Board, providing critical advice on strategic and innovative opportunities, and ensuring that the Trust’s conservation planning, science initiatives and other programs reflect global, national and state priorities, and are maintained as sector-leading programs.

To be successful in this Chief Executive Officer position, you will be a highly regarded executive leader with a flexible approach, authentic communication style, and a passion for conservation. You will also have the ability to influence and build strong relationships across government, philanthropic and community stakeholders, advocating for pragmatic conservation solutions and driving strategic growth. You will have proven leadership experience, preferably in the not-for-profit and/or public sectors, ideally within a regionally dispersed or environmental organisation would be ideal. You will also have demonstrated experience working with Boards and presenting to a range of audiences, including the media.

This is an incredible opportunity to shape the future of Victoria’s conservation and play a key role in combating climate change.
