About the organisation
The Judith Neilson Foundation (JNF) is an organisation established with the specific aim to improve society by addressing social, economic and resource inequities, meeting immediate needs and creating foundations and opportunities for people and communities.
The Foundation will initially operate in three key areas – meeting basic needs such as food security, shelter, water, and sanitation and supporting innovation to address these needs. To serve as a catalyst for social change through interventions that support the welfare of women and girls, such as domestic violence, homelessness, and financial empowerment. And finally, to strengthen society through community development strategies focused on economic growth, quality employment and access to education.
The Foundation has a global perspective, initially with a focus on Southern Africa and Australia.
About the role
- Showcase your strong strategic grant making skills
- Positively impact the lives of people and communities
- Shape an international philanthropic portfolio
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Programs (HoP) will be responsible for the development of a new international philanthropic portfolio aligned to JNF’s mission, including all stages of the grant making cycle; developing JNF’s giving strategy, identifying funding opportunities and ongoing management review and evaluation. The HoP will develop new networks and partnerships for the Foundation both domestically and internationally.
To be successful you will have a strong knowledge of the philanthropic landscape and different approaches to philanthropic strategy and bring a high level of curiosity that will expose JNF to new ideas, opportunities and partnerships to ensure continued and significant impact. Ideally, you will have a strong understanding and practical experience of international development in Southern Africa. You will be highly skilled in communicating complex issues in a simple, persuasive manner and have strong interpersonal and people management skills. As this is a relatively new organisation, you will recognise the need for the JNF and the individuals within it to grow, evolve and adapt to opportunities.
