About the Role

The Development Advisor, Philanthropy is responsible for managing a portfolio of donors and supporting the fundraising team to build and maintain productive and positive relationships with donors and internal partners.

The Advisor will be involved in all aspects of fundraising including donor relationship management, stewardship and acquisition activities, data management, and gift implementation.

The role will support the senior fundraisers to identify opportunities within RMIT and ensure that all gift obligations are met. As an integral member of the philanthropy team, the Development Advisor, Philanthropy will play a key role in delivering exemplary donor relationship management, coordinating initial enquiries, receipting, and acknowledging donations, supporting key donor and prospecting events and working with gift recipients to effectively manage donations in line with donor wishes and best practice.

 

About You

As a successful candidate, you will have passion and experience in fundraising and/or sales. You will have experience working with donors or clients to drive engagement and achieve targets. You can comfortably build relationships with new donors and act as a liaison between the donors and internal stakeholders (professional staff, researchers, etc). You will also have excellent negotiation and communication skills and be able to work independently.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Experience with relationship development and negotiation to develop partnerships with internal and external partners to advance the aims of the organisation.
  • Experience and success working in a KPI driven environment.
  • Demonstrated experience using CRM software to maintain accurate records and reporting.
  • Strong oral, written and communication skills for a wide range of audiences with demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, including high attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of philanthropy and fundraising best practices and the Australian philanthropic environment. (Desirable)
