About the role

Helpline Program; Helpline Support Worker

.4 FTE Fixed Team Contract until 30th June 2024

PCA Families has an exciting vacancy to join our Helpline Program. The Helpline Program is a free, independent and confidential service, offering short term support, practical information, advocacy and referrals to other services.  The Program is funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and is available to Permanent Carers, Kinship Carers and Adoptive Families.

The Helpline Support Worker will be instrumental in providing short term telephone consultations support and advocacy; and facilitating referrals of internal and external services where relevant.

Selection Criteria:

  • Willingness to be proactive and support others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a positive and enthusiastic manner
  • Experience in child protection, out of home care, child and family services or other related services
  • General counselling experience with ability to demonstrate trauma-informed practice skills.
  • Experience in working in a similar telephone support service.

* Experience working with Carer/Families or Lived Experience of the out of home care sector would be viewed favourably.
