About the Position
Teach For Australia strives to be a learning organisation, guided by the north star of our vision, mission and Theory of Change. The Measurement, Evaluation and Impact Adviser is a part time position (part-time 0.6-0.8 FTE with a view to ramp up to 1.0 FTE) and plays a critical part in TFA living into this commitment during a period of growth and scale. This role’s evaluation expertise, passion for learning, and continuous improvement orientation will have a broad impact across TFA – from partnering with teams to design and implement measurement and evaluation tools, to supporting data-led decision making, and measuring and communicating TFA’s impact as an organisation.
About You
Essential
- Degree in social or behavioural sciences, evaluation, education or a related field
- 3-5 years experience in designing and implementing program monitoring and evaluation
Desirable
- Experience in the education sector, such as working in non-profit organisations, research institutions, or government agencies
Key Accountabilities:
Programmatic monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning
- Partner with program teams to establish and maintain up to date program logics, evaluation frameworks and tools that enable continuous learning and improvement
- Guided by the MEAL Manager, agree on the level of data analysis support required by each of TFA’s programs, and ensure these expectations are met
- Support program teams to meet reporting obligations, including data collection and analysis
- Support program teams to reflect and act on evaluation activities and reports
- Provide oversight of the suite of the data collection tools across TFA’s programs
- As needed, manage or support the delivery of external evaluations
Organisational monitoring, evaluation and impact
- Work alongside the MEAL Manager to build internal knowledge and understanding of TFA’s Theory of Change and implement an organisation wide Outcome Measurement Framework
- Support staff across the organisation to use evaluative thinking and make evidence-based decisions (for example, through end of activity, quarter, or annual reflections)
- Work across the organisation to help communicate findings and recommendations, and where appropriate plan for the implementation of changes
- Lead internal (and/or support external) research or evaluation projects, including on educational disadvantage, student achievement and teacher effectiveness as needed
Communications and reporting
- Craft quantitative and qualitative reports that are clear, accurate, and accessible to TFA staff members and external stakeholders
- Support Marketing and Communications functions to articulate TFA’s Theory of Problem and Theory of Change, and develop impact publications
- Support Government and Philanthropy teams to report on TFA’s activity and impact to key funders
Data management and quality assurance
- Maintain source of truth data and document insights from routine evaluation activities, including:
- Updating tools used for ongoing analyses
- Creating or updating reports
- Preparing and maintaining databases or data management systems
- Responding to data requests
- Supporting the production of publications, summaries and data visualisations
