VicHealth is the world’s first health promotion foundation. Established by the Victorian Parliament in 1987, we were the first agency of our kind worldwide to utilise a hypothecated tax on tobacco to support independent, long-term, evidence-based health promotion practice, partnerships and leadership. We continue to be a global leader in health promotion, as a Collaborating Centre with the World Health Organization and as a technical partner to UNICEF.

We are currently recruiting for a person to fill the position of Manager, Policy & Government Relations. This position is located within a cross-organisational Policy, Strategy & Impact Group responsible for maximising VicHealth’s value in the public policy process and evidenced based thought leadership.
The Manager, Policy & Government Relations leads the Policy & Government relations team and provides support for CEO engagement with senior government and political stakeholders. The position supports a coordinated approach to government engagement across VicHealth, in relation to health policy and programs.
The successful candidate will ensure successful partnerships, collaboration and engagement with Government stakeholders as well as the development of high-quality VicHealth policy positions.
In order to excel in this role, the successful candidate will exhibit industry leading relationship management skills as well as highly developed negotiation and communication skills.
Other qualities that will be well regarded include agility, initiative, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Remuneration: $126,933-152,586 (plus superannuation and other benefits)
Qualifications and experience required:
- Relevant tertiary and post graduate qualifications
- Extensive industry experience in policy development and formulation at a senior level
- Post graduate qualifications highly regarded
- Experience working within the government sector including extensive experience in State government and with Ministers
- Strong understanding of the public policy development process and mechanisms to inform and influence policy
- Strong leadership and exceptional relationship management experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong people management skills.
