About the role

Community Fundraising Manager
Permanent full time (1 EFT) 37.5 hours per week

Muscular Dystrophy Australia (MDA) is a registered charity and NDIS provider, and is the one stop shop for information, services, support, and research for people including children, living with one of over 60 different types of neuromuscular conditions.

We have an amazing and active community that inspires us daily. Community fundraising is central to MDA and provides a way for people and companies to engage and contribute to our mission.

The Community Fundraising Manager is responsible for devising, managing, and delivering national, peer to peer and state-based fundraising activities and events. This role is based in North Melbourne and reports into the CEO and will also work closely with Marketing and Communications.

Position Overview:
• Manage, lead, and grow MDA’s national fundraising community to raise funds and awareness towards achieving our mission.
• Engage and support peer-to-peer/third-party community fundraisers with their events and campaigns, and champion their efforts and results.
• Develop and manage community stakeholder relationships including sporting and corporate sponsors and ambassadors.
• Event management of our two flagship events – Run for Strength (March) and Superhero week (September).
• Community engagement and communications across channels.
• Improve processes and automation for an optimal community experience.

Skills required:

You will have: three to five years of experience in community fundraising; be adept at using tools and methods when fundraising and communicating to stakeholders; and be able to show a commitment to supporting our mission.

• Ability to manage high-level relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Proficiency in the use of fundraising platforms including Raisely.
• Sound organizational skills and a willingness to improve efficient and effective ways to conduct community fundraising and events.
• An understanding of community engagement and communications including social media and digital marketing practices.
• Excellent proposal writing skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability.
• An ability to analyse, data to find actionable insights to assist with future campaigns and events.
• Excellent IT knowledge, familiar with CRM’s, Salesforce, Campaign Monitor, Microsoft suite, WordPress or similar
• Desire and ability to work as part of a small team with responsibility for your own program/s and targets.

Primary objectives of the role:

The position is responsible for delivering an agreed and achievable annual fundraising target and manage and promote our annual national community fundraising campaign schedule. Internal support from Marketing/Communications and CEO. This will be delivered through:

Community fundraising – (60 per cent of role)
• Management of community fundraising events including the annual Run for Strength held each  February/March and Superhero week in September.
• Manage our popular Harley Davidson raffles (March/August) and develop exciting new approaches to refresh our raffles.
• Manage peer to peer/third party fundraising and establish processes and automation for seamless user experience.
• Manage appeals (2 per year – EOFY and Christmas appeal)
• Support fundraisers in their third-party fundraising efforts (funneled through our website and socials), including promoting peer-to-peer fundraising opportunities to clients, corporate partners and employees and donors.
• Monitor trends via data analytics and segmentation across the Salesforce CRM
• Contribute to the development and delivery of community fundraising and events strategies.
• Actively seek new opportunities for MDA to fundraise in the community including but not limited to events, giving days, partnerships, on-product promotions.
• Ensure fundraisers at all levels are warmly and effectively supported and thanked for their efforts.
• Budget management and reporting.

Corporate Partnerships and sponsorships (20 per cent of role)
Working with the CEO:
• Secure and maintaining corporate partnerships; partnership packages and sponsorship approaches.
• Oversee the creation of partnership packages and sponsorship approaches based on both their needs and MDA’s program goals.
• Responsible for ensuring effective stakeholder management of partners to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes.

Communications (20 per cent of role)
Working in collaboration with our Marketing Communications Manager:
• Establish and maintain a community communications framework and annual communications calendar, including socials.
• Develop community communications assets including case studies, testimonials, photo library.
• Work effectively with the Communications and Client Services team to ensure MDA social channels and website promote partnerships in keeping with our brand guidelines.
• Excellent database and administrative skills, including experience with maintaining good quality Salesforce data and donor management. (Training will be provided if required.)
• Working knowledge of e-newsletter programs and use of audience segmentation to deliver e-communications.
• Writing, editing and design with experience in producing digital fundraising materials for a variety of outputs including social media.

• A base salary of $100,000 full time, plus superannuation and access to a generous not-for-profit salary packaging program (up to $15,450 of your salary tax-free).
