About the role
The Access Team Clinician will effectively engage, screen, assess, refer, provide brief interventions and co-ordinate care for young people aged 12-25 years who contact or are referred to the headspace Centre. The Clinician will work within a multi-disciplinary team and holds a pivotal role within the headspace program.
This position is suited to energetic and enthusiastic early-career clinicians with a passion for working within youth mental health and contributing to the headspace Hobart community As one of the first contact points for young people accessing the headspace Centre, the Access Team Clinician will need to build a positive rapport with a wide range of young people, as well as their family and friends.
This opportunity is fixed-term up to 0.6 FTE to the 30 June 2025 and is based in Hobart and other inreach locations.
Skills, Experience, Qualifications and Certifications
Essential
- An approved tertiary qualification in an allied health discipline, including social work, psychology (clinical, and 4+2 pathways or 5+1 pathway), mental health nursing and occupational therapy, including eligibility for membership of an appropriate professional body. (Social Workers are required to be eligible for full membership with AASW; Psychologist, Mental Health Nurses, and Occupational Therapists are required to be eligible for full registration with AHPRA).
- Demonstrated experience working with young people with mental health, alcohol and other drugs and other social issues.
- The ability and experience to delivery brief therapeutic interventions, counselling services and treatment planning.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment coordinating care for young people.
Desirable requirements
- Current full/provisional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) or current full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
Essential Certifications
Evidence of the following must be provided prior to appointment to the position:
- A current Tasmania Working with Vulnerable People Registration
- A current National Police Check
- A current COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate
- A current Australian Driver’s Licence
