Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.

At its core NPY Women’s Council is about family and community – walytja. Our purpose is to work with women, children and their families of the Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara region in central Australia. Our role is to work side by side and help increase their capacity to lead safe and healthy lives with improved life choice

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are now recruiting for a Child Nutrition Development Officer in the Child and Family Wellbeing Service (CFWS) to service NPY communities. This position is based IN Alice Springs with regular travel throughout the NPY lands. You will work collaboratively within the Child Nutrition Program to support families with children aged 0-5 years, especially those experiencing growth faltering.

As a Child Nutrition Development Officer you will work across a wide range of tasks including:

  • Complex Case Management
  • Community Education
  • Capacity building and collaboration across community services
  • Working with stores around nutrition health initiatives.

 

ABOUT YOU

This rewarding role could suit a nutrition or health sciences professional wanting to gain invaluable experience, or professionals in other disciplines with transferrable skills looking for a change (e.g. teachers, nurses, health care workers etc.). Experience working with remote Indigenous communities or vulnerable minority groups will be highly regarded.

We are looking for someone who is a team player, resilient and passionate about working alongside Anangu. In addition, the right person will be comfortable living in a remote environment and is able to be flexible in a changing environment.

In addition to this we offer a generous remuneration package. You will receive an above award salary, salary packaging benefits, 25 days of annual leave, 7 days of additional leave, 15 days of personal leave (to care for you and your family), and a retention bonus. We also provide NPYWC accommodation and use of a company vehicle when travelling
