About the organisation
AHF is the leading Australian development NGO in the Himalaya – working to improve the quality of life of those most in need in some of the poorest and most under-resourced districts of the region. We work in partnership with communities to help them meet their priority needs through provision of a set of practical, cost-effective programs in education, health and environment. AHF is a member of the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID), and we have full accreditation with the Australian Government’s NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP).
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced relationship manager with a passion for the Himalaya to join our well supported, impactful and growing organisation. The Head of Fundraising (HoF) works closely with the CEO to lead, set and deliver the Foundation’s fundraising strategy. The role works closely with our small, committed AHF fundraising and communications team, staff and volunteers and consultants.
We are looking for someone who wants to make a real difference, an energetic and dedicated professional who loves building and fostering relationships, demonstrated with solid experience and proven results.

Core responsibilities
- Nurture and grow existing and new relationships with key partners including mid- and major donors, foundations, and AHF Ambassadors.
- Further develop the Foundation’s funding base.
- Refine and manage and measure AHF’s Fundraising and Marketing strategy, calendar and plans.
- Manage staff and work digital fundraising, small scale events and other engagement activities with the support of volunteers and the Fundraising and Communications Committee.
- With support from the CEO and team, the HoF is responsible for setting, tracking and meeting fundraising revenue budgets.

- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Proven experience in a relationship management environment; building reputation, relationships and revenue
- Demonstrated leadership experience in motivating and inspiring team members and networks
- Sound financial management experience, including budget setting and reporting
- Confident with technology, e.g. CRM systems (ours is Salesforce) and eMarketing channels
Desirable
- Fundraising experience in international development
- Knowledge of ethics of fundraising and knowledge of privacy legislation
- A passion for social justice and a demonstrated commitment to working with cross-cultural communities experiencing vulnerability
- Experience working with ANCP funded programs
- Experience with applying ACFID Code of Conduct requirements
- Proficiency in Google drive
