Proudly serving Australians since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides emergency road, aeromedical and primary health services for people in rural and remote Australia. We believe in creating opportunities so all Victorians have the choice to access essential primary health care services.

Through the Flying Doctor Health Group program, RFDS operates locally based clinics to better support Victorians to access health care in their own rural and remote communities. Supported through funding by RFDS Victoria’s donors, the program joined with Robinvale District Medical Centre to expand services to meet the community need with a GP service which already included telehealth and speech therapy.

About the role

To ensure a consistent and reliable health service to the residents of Robinvale and surrounding communities, RFDS Health Group is currently seeking an Endorsed or Registered Nurse on a casual basis to cover leave and other workforce needs to compliment the current team of Primary Health Practitioners.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Planning, managing and delivering patient care within scope of practice
  • Chronic disease management, triaging, vaccinations, wound management, pathology collection and contacting patients with test results, assisting with clinical procedures
  • Health promotion advice and activities, patient advocacy and dissemination of patient education resources
  • Coordinating and providing support to the practice team outside the practice – immunisation clinics, residential aged care visits and occupational health clinics on agribusiness
  • Supporting quality and safety, including accreditation through developing policies and procedures
  • Supporting practice management (data, stock controls, clinical equipment maintenance etc.)
  • Providing a link between services, patients and networks

 

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Division 1 Registered Nurse or Endorsed Enrolled Nurse, including current Registration with AHPRA
  • Experience as a practice or community based Nurse
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of general practice and an interest in community-based nursing, including patient education and health promotion
  • Experience with specific social groups, such as adolescents, aged care, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders and CALD communities (highly desirable)

 

Specific requirements:

  • Current drivers licence – community and home visits are a component of the role
  • Willing to undertake a National Police Clearance (at the expense of RFDS)
  • Willing to hold a Working with Children Check
  • Availability to work casually Monday – Friday as required

 

Mandatory vaccination policy:

As part of the application process, you will be required to provide evidence of the following vaccinations:

  • Hepatitis B
  • Chicken Pox
  • Measles, Mumps and Rubella
  • Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis
  • Tuberculosis
  • Annual Influenza
  • COVID-19 (2 vaccinations + booster)
