VCS Foundation, trading as the Australian Centre for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer, is a not-for-profit organisation drawing on over 50 years of expertise in cancer prevention through pathology services, cancer screening and vaccination registries. Our work has helped to reduce the mortality rate from cervical cancer in Victoria to half that of the rest of Australia. Our primary purpose is to support Australia and nations across the lndo­ Pacific region to achieve the World Health Organization's global goal to eliminate cervical cancer.

About the role

The purpose of this appointment is to oversee the management of ACPCC. and provide sound guidance to the Board as a representative with expertise in Finance, Commerce or Corporate Management.

The ACPCC Board is established by Constitution.

The Constitution provides that the functions of the board are:

  • To oversee the management of the Service by the Executive Director
  • Exercise all powers and functions as may be exercised by the Service, subject to the Act and the Constitution.
  • Employ the Executive Director; and
  • Establish Committees.

Key Accountabilities and Major Activities:

Key areas of responsibility and activities include:

Policy and Strategic Planning

  • Establish the strategic direction of ACPCC
  • Ensure ACPCC has a comprehensive program of quality assurance which encourages continuous improvement in all its activities;
  • Ensure ACPCC adopts an annual budget for the financial performance of ACPCC and monitoring the results on a regular basis; and

Overseeing the implementation of policy

The responsibilities of the board in relation to overseeing the implementation of policy are:

  • Appointing the Executive Director;
  • Clearly defining delegations of authority from the board to Executive Director;
  • Monitoring the overall performance of VCS in meeting and exceeding its strategic objectives;
  • Monitoring the results of reporting systems and internal controls for both general and financial activities.
