The Organisation
Based in the Inner East/City fringe and close to public transport, our client is an industry-owned, industry-led, not for profit organisation. Highly regarded and at the forefront of their target industry sector, they have deep stakeholder relationships, working collaboratively to focus on addressing skills and workforce issues for the sector, with national reach.

The Role
This newly created role plays a critical role working closely with the Strategic Advisor ensuring they are briefed on current, emerging and future VET policy issues of strategic importance to the organisation. You are responsible for undertaking drafting, review and coordination of input in the development of policy papers in addition to supporting the Strategic Advisor in responding to external stakeholders through consultation and the development of submissions. 

This role works closely with senior members of the organisation to progress policy advice and key projects to support the organisation’s focus on building partnerships between industry and the education/training sector.

Key elements of the role are: 

  • Maintaining a watching brief on the skills and training agenda both domestically & internationally
  • Liaise across the organisation to develop advice on the impact of key VET reform initiatives
  • Plan, lead, coordinate and monitor work on key projects
  • Prepare accurate and high quality strategic policy papers and time-critical submissions
  • Prepare discussion papers for consultation with external stakeholders and establish enduring relationships

The Person 
To be successful in this role it is essential you have: 

  • Demonstrated high level ability to interpret and disseminate information whilst understanding the impact in a highly regulated NFP environment
  • Robust project methodology and exceptional communications skills including the ability to present to a targeted audience
  • Background in policy, government or research would be beneficial in demonstrating an understanding of policies and programs
