Victoria Walks is an evidence-based health promotion charity, leading the move for walkable communities in Australia since 2009. It works primarily in Victoria, but also around Australia, to enable all types of walking – recreational, incidental and transport related. 

Environmental, economic and health systems are under pressure: climate change, economic disruptions due to the pandemic and global conflicts, an ageing, diverse population and the epidemic of loneliness and mental health crisis. We exist so we can positively influence important decisions on major systemic issues of our time:  health, climate, housing and equity.

The organisation has an impressively large following of Australians sharing a love of and interest in walking and is mobilising community voices on issues relating to walking.  

Victoria Walks offers leadership and independent expertise to influence policy and practice, and uses its highly-respected expertise to undertakes consultancy work relevant to its purpose to promote the creation of walkable communities, and to help fund our community health promotion work.

Victoria Walks Role:

  • To facilitate and inspire more walking throughout the community
  • To capture, translate and promote evidence on the impact and value of walking
  • To be a trusted expert, positively influencing decision-makers

About the role

ABOUT THE ROLE

This exciting, newly created role will have a big impact on ensuring our sustainability and leadership as Australia’s preeminent walking promotion charity. This is your chance to make a difference and plan and execute strategies to generate further market share and revenue opportunities to achieve our income and growth goals.

Your initial focus will be on growing our consulting services and developing effective relationships with existing and new key clients and partners across government, corporate and philanthropic sectors.

You will also refresh and manage the existing Supporter Program to ensure it aligns with organisational revenue growth objectives, including fee-for-services.

ABOUT YOU

You are a highly motivated, strategic and have a proven track record of cultivating and nurturing relationships and sales. You have a relevant tertiary qualification and extensive experience or proven expertise in business development.

You will impress us with your ability to champion the culture of walking and the benefits it generates, including the enjoyment it brings to individuals and the role it plays in creating a strong, connected community.
