The Organisation
For over 50 years, Playgroup NSW (PGNSW) has been the peak body in NSW that has delivered and linked families to vital services such as parent support groups and playgroups for those experiencing vulnerability and diversity, and those who value community connections.
PGNSW has a range of programs supporting community volunteers; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families; culturally and linguistically diverse families; intergenerational programs for older Australians; perinatal mental and parent/child mental health programs for expecting and new parents; early intervention specifically for children and families experiencing vulnerabilities and for children with disability and their carer’s.
These vital and impactful programs connect and support 65,000 NSW member families.
In 2023 the PGNSW members resolved to convert from an incorporated association to a company limited by guarantee to reflect its growing size and reach across Australia.

The Role
The CEO will be responsible for maintaining and leading a high-performing team, delivering exceptional programs and services to families and communities, and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders to secure the necessary resources and support for the organisation’s growth and sustainability.
You will championthe vision and values, ensuring alignment with best practices in early childhood development, child safety and regulatory compliance. PGNSW is currently working towards the 2027 strategic plan with a focus of doubling community impact.
Skills Required
You are already a principled values-driven leader delivering programs that strengthen community development with a particular concern for vulnerable or disadvantaged families.
You have experience in senior-level representation, advocacy and industry and government relations. You have excellent communication skills, experience in policy and regulatory issues and the capacity to identify key risks and opportunities. You provide inspirational leadership with strategic, financial, operational and people management skills including for volunteers.
