We are seeking a determined and highly motivated Team Leader that can join the Program and Leadership team to deliver quality youth focused outcomes. 

As the Team Leader of the First Response Youth Support Service, you will be part of an exciting and innovative new model and purpose-designed centre created to respond to youth homelessness via a place-based approach in the north-easterngrowth corridor of Melbourne. Our new centre located at South Morang, where you will be based, opens July/August 2024. Working with our Leadership and Operations teams you will establish the service delivery practitioner team  and processes based on our successful Melton model to ensure exemplary service delivery to youth at risk of homelessness in this part of outer Melbourne. 

You will be proactive in leading and managing two components of the service: 

  • A mobile outreach service 
  • A youth refuge providing supported crisis accommodation. 

Reporting to and supported by the Programs Manager, you will: 

  • Provide leadership and direction to a high functioning Mobile Outreach team Hold responsibility for the day-to-day operations of our purpose-built youth refuge and the mobile outreach service; 
  • Ensure compliance in all operational areas including service delivery, risk management and quality improvement for clients and staff; and 
  • Establish a culture of service excellence where optimal outcomes for young people are achieved.

WE ALSO OFFER 

  • Purpose-driven medium NFP organisation + A new purpose-built youth refuge under construction and due for completion July/August 2024 in South Morang 
  • A collaborative, dedicated, and highly motivated team focused on achieving positive outcomes with young people and young families. 
  • Full time (38 hours per week) with a flexible work arrangement option to spread the hours over 9 days/fortnight. 
  • NFP salary packaging up to $18, 550 of your salary tax free 
  • Generous salary package of $98,553 – $103,013 inc. 5% over Award payment plus super 
  • 5 weeks of Annual Leave 
  • On-call duties shared amongst 5 staffs with minimum recall to sites. 

 ABOUT YOU 

You will have: 

  • A bachelor’s degree qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Psychology, or other health/welfare related qualification. 
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in team leadership, supervision of staff and program development. 
  • Demonstrated background of trauma informed frameworks and understanding of young people’s trauma with complex needs, including homelessness, family violence, alcohol, drugs and/or mental illness. 
  • Strong people management skills and ability to deliver effective client-centred services to young people in crisis within a case management framework and therapeutic approaches within a multi-disciplinary team. 
  • Strong relationship building skills which has seen you motivate a team and young people to achieve quality outcomes. 
  • Highly developed communication skills at all levels specifically in active listening, negotiation, problem solving and report writing. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications, client data and reporting systems.
