About the organisation
About the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation
The “SpiritWest Foundation”, trading as the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation (WBCF), is a nation-leading organisation that uses the power of sport to deliver life-changing programs.
The WBCF delivers programs that give everybody the opportunity to thrive with a focus on young people, gender equity, prevention of family violence, First Nations people, newly arrived migrants and refugees, diversity, inclusion and community health and wellbeing, reaching thousands of people each year from Melbourne's inner west right out to the South Australian border.
Funded by local, State and Federal Government and partners including Major Partner WorkSafe Victoria, our programs are designed in collaboration with the community and rigorously independently evaluated by Victoria University each year to ensure they remain best practice, and drive positive, systemic, change.
The WBCF is a public company limited by guarantee and is registered as a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) with deductible gift recipient (DGR) status. As a subsidiary and separate legal entity to the Footscray Football Club Ltd trading as Western Bulldogs, it is governed by its own Board and Constitution. The purpose of the WBCF, as set out in its Constitution, includes the alleviation of poverty, suffering and distress suffered by individuals who permanently reside in Melbourne’s Western Suburbs and who experience social and cultural isolation and economic hardship which have disadvantageous effects. The WBCF uses sport as a social inclusion and health promotional tool and promotes the total development of disadvantaged young people and their families.
