About the organisation

Organisation Name : Australians Investing In Women

Australians Investing In Women (AIIW) is a leading not-for-profit organisation that aims to harness the power of philanthropy to advance gender equality, promote gender lens investing, and build a more equitable future.

AIIW encourages all Australians – particularly philanthropic, corporate, and community leaders – to apply a gender lens to their giving and increase investment in women and girls, to help create a fairer and more inclusive society.

We are a growing community of women, men and businesses who understand that investing in women and girls strengthens both economies and societies.

We do not provide grants; we are part of a burgeoning global movement spreading awareness, not only of the benefits in addressing the disadvantage still experienced by women and girls, but of their central role in effecting constructive social change and development.

About the role

THE ROLE

  • Position Title: Communications Lead
  • Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
  • Location: Melbourne
  • Capacity: Full time, fixed term 2-year contract

Australians Investing In Women (AIIW) is seeking a Communications Lead to bring our communications strategy to life, helping shape philanthropic and public narratives around gender-wise giving.

This role will be central in amplifying the reach and impact of AIIW’s advocacy, thought leadership, research and resources, ensuring our work is clear, compelling, and influential.

Working closely with the CEO and team, this role is ideal for someone who is a confident writer and content creator, with the ability to communicate complex issues in ways that influence hearts, minds, and systems. You will help thread key messages across platforms and audiences, draw actionable insights from data and impact across the gender equality ecosystem, and create meaningful content to drive engagement with the gender lens – ultimately leading to greater investment in women and girls.

At AIIW, we are a small but highly engaged and purpose-driven team committed to empowering giving for a fairer future. This role offers the opportunity to:

  • Work at the cutting edge of philanthropy and social change.
  • Work across a wide range of social issues and philanthropic missions
  • Engage with a diverse network of leaders across philanthropy, corporate, and community sectors.
  • Be part of an innovative, collaborative, and impact-driven team.

AIIW values expertise, evidence, experience and collaboration. We are seeking to work with those who can bring a combination of these to the organisation. We are looking for someone who brings communications and storytelling expertise with advocacy instincts, media and policy experience, and has the capability to own the full content lifecycle — from ideation through to final production. We are looking for someone who is values aligned, ambitious, shows initiative, and takes responsibility for their own learning. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow and develop in the role.
