The Western Bulldogs Community Foundation is the club’s community arm that utilises the trusted brand of our football club to deliver life changing programs in Melbourne’s West and beyond.
The Foundation delivers demonstrated impact in the areas of health and wellbeing, youth leadership, cultural diversity and social inclusion. About the role
Reporting to the Head of Partnerships, Marketing & Communications, the Philanthropy and Funding Coordinator will be responsible for the development and implementation of best practice philanthropy and funding plans to support the Foundation’s theory of change, maximising financial support for the Foundation’s life-changing work. This role will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with prospective and current philanthropic trusts and foundations, and government funders.
This role is also responsible for:
- Providing advice and support to the Head of Partnerships, Marketing and Communications and the GM Foundation to secure philanthropic income from trusts and foundations and government.
- Identifying and researching prospective funders, engaging with relevant staff to gauge their interest in the foundation.
- Implementing and executing best practice relationship management strategies with a focus cultivation, solicitation and stewardship including timely grant acquittals to increase engagement and support.
- Planning, developing, preparing and submitting tailored and impactful funding proposals that align with the foundation’s priorities, working collaboratively with program staff and/or external suppliers as necessary.
- Working collaboratively with the Head of Partnerships, Marketing and Communications, and the Partnerships Manager to leverage funding opportunities across philanthropic, government and corporate sectors, including corporate foundations.
- Working collaboratively with the Head of Partnerships, Marketing and Communications, and the Digital Marketing Manager on implementing best practice marketing communications for prospective and current philanthropic, government funders, including planning and hosting events where appropriate.
Skills and experience
- Demonstrated experience in building external relationships in structured ways to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes, with a focus on net income.
- Demonstrated experience in managing relationships with philanthropic and government funders, including best practice engagement and stewardship tactics.
- Demonstrated communication skills, including influencing and negotiation skills, presentation and written communication skills.
- Understanding of the political, legal and policy context of philanthropy and government, including rules, laws, and policies.
- Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently, effectively managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and responding efficiently to urgent requests.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to develop, nurture and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Education: A tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
- At least 2+ years’ experience using MS Office, including proficient use of Excel for income planning and forecasting.
- Experience working with Salesforce and/or other CRM.
- Experience with Salesforce and/or HubSpot desirable.
- Experience using Strategic Grants GEM Portal desirable.
