About the organisation
About the role
- Help create joy for children and families
- Location - Open across Australia
FunFlight creates unforgettable flying experiences for children and young people facing adversity. Partnering with pilots, aero clubs, and volunteers across Australia. They give families a break from the everyday challenges they face—and a day filled with joy, wonder, and freedom.
FunFlight is run by a passionate team of volunteers, guided by a small but committed Board. Established 17 years ago, they have flown over 15,000 passengers. They truly make magic happen, but with additional support and expertise, they could do even more.
FunFlight is looking to appoint a new Board Director with skills in Marketing to help grow their reach, build support, and shape the next chapter of FunFlight’s impact.
As an active and effective Non-Executive Director, you’ll play a key role in guiding governance and strategy. As a small, impactful and ambitious volunteer-led organisation, FunFlight is looking for someone who’s not just offering advice —but a doer—ready to help shape and drive its future across several key areas, including:
- Develop and guide a simple but effective marketing and brand strategy
- Build relationships with sponsors and partners, particularly outside of aviation
- Strengthen messaging and communications to connect with new audiences
- Support donor campaigns, grants, partnerships, and fundraising events
- Actively promote FunFlight and help us grow our supporter base
Expected Background & Experience
You will bring deep expertise across marketing, communications, sponsorships and/or brand development, together with attributes for an effective Board Director –big picture thinking, understanding of governance & risk, integrity, financial literacy, energy and commitment. It is not necessary to have Aviation experience or to be a Pilot (FunFlight has that in spades). Board Experience, AICD (or similar) and experience in the For Purpose / Charity sector is desirable, but not essential.
Time Commitment
As a national charity, monthly Board meetings are via video call, with occasional extra calls in between. The likely commitment is 10-20 hours per month including preparation for meetings, driving activity, building relationships and attending events, depending on what is happening.
Expression of Interest / Application
Please share your CV, together with a cover letter briefly highlighting why you would like to be considered for this extraordinary Board role, and what you will bring to help propel FunFlight forward.
