Named in recognition of Club legend, Neville Crowe, the Bequest program seeks to work with existing and prospective members to identify areas of passion where their legacy can support Richmond and provide an enduring and everlasting contribution to the Club.

About the role

The Bequest & Philanthropy Manager is responsible for leading and growing the Club’s philanthropic and legacy giving programs. They manage the Club’s Bequest Program, Neville Crowe’s Legacy, and support major gift cultivation, grant writing, and other fundraising initiatives such as for the Punt Road Redevelopment Project.

 

The Club is engaged across a range of football programs; community engagement programs; and planned facility upgrades which this role supports. Neville Crowe’s Legacy plays a key role in the Engagement Strategy of these priorities and the Club’s ongoing campaigns, focusing on the development, relationship management and growth of our loyal Bequest members. The Bequest & Philanthropy Manager develops engaging programs, initiatives, and opportunities for current and prospective members of the program. The philanthropic and fundraising component of this role includes major gift and grant writing fundraising to secure and grow income to support the Club’s growth initiatives.

 

The Bequest & Philanthropy Manager works in the Commercial & Partnerships team, and collaborates across departments to deliver meaningful donor experiences and fundraising outcomes that reflect the Club’s values and long-term vision. The Bequest & Philanthropy Manager nurtures and manages relationships with a high level of understanding and sensitivity to the nature of the role. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:            

  1. Lead and manage Bequests & Legacy Giving programs, including stewardship of legacy donors, coordination of events, and handling sensitive enquiries with care.
  2. Support philanthropy and fundraising efforts by assisting with major gifts, grants, and donor campaigns across a range of Club initiatives.
  3. Oversee donor information and systems management, ensuring accurate records, donor profiling, and regular data updates in collaboration with relevant teams.
  4. Coordinate and deliver donor events and engagement activities, working closely with internal stakeholders to enhance donor engagement and experience.
  5. Develop and contribute to marketing and communications that promote legacy giving and philanthropy through compelling storytelling and strategic messaging.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  1. Experience in Bequest/Major Gift/Grant Fundraising within a not-for-profit, sporting or community organisation
  2. Member of Fundraising Institute of Australia or similar (highly regarded)
  3. Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills, with a high level of emotional intelligence and discretion.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience in donor communications and grant writing (highly regarded).
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/database systems
  6. A passion for sport, people, and community impact
