We currently employ 14 staff, including 8 Wellbeing Coaches, and support people across Toowoomba, Warwick, and Chinchilla, with outreach to Miles, Tara, Dalby, and Kingaroy.
Our team works from three regional hubs and partners with over 60 community, education, and health organisations to deliver creative, inclusive, and co-designed mental health programs. From art therapy and peer-led group programs to community events and wellbeing talks, Momentum is at the forefront of grassroots recovery-focused mental health and wellbeing care.

About the role
We’re Looking for Change-Makers!
Volunteer Board Opportunity | Toowoomba-Based | Local Knowledge of the Darling Downs Essential
Join the Board of a Bold, Values-Led Mental Health Organisation Changing Lives Across Regional Queensland
Momentum Mental Health is inviting passionate, purpose-driven individuals to apply for a Voluntary Board Director position. This is more than a governance role — it’s an opportunity to support others brave enough to seek help, shape systems that enable recovery, and help build a more mentally healthy and connected regional Queensland.
We believe that every person has the right to hope, healing, and belonging — and that recovery is possible when people have access to the right support, at the right time, in the right way. If that inspires you, you may be exactly who we’re looking for.
Why Join the Board?
As a Board Director at Momentum, you’ll:
- Help shape the strategic vision and future of an organisation making a real difference
- Provide guidance to a passionate team of professionals dedicated to wellbeing and inclusion
- Champion community voices, especially those with lived experience of mental health challenges
- Contribute to systems change in mental health that prioritises humanity, dignity, and hope
- Join a governance team where diverse perspectives are genuinely welcomed and valued
- Your voice and leadership will help ensure Momentum remains courageous, connected, and community-driven as we grow.
Who are we looking for?
We’re seeking diverse thinkers and community champions — individuals who bring empathy, insight, and integrity to the table.
Whether you’re a seasoned professional or emerging leader, if you have skills or lived experience in areas such as:
- Governance or risk management
- Health or social services
- Mental health or peer advocacy
- Finance, law, or HR
- Strategy, fundraising, or community engagement
…then we’d love to hear from you.
Bonus if you’ve completed the AICD Company Directors Course (or similar), but we also welcome those with real-world experience and a commitment to growth.
Applicants must live in or have strong local ties to the Darling Downs region and be available for in-person attendance at Toowoomba-based board meetings (with occasional online participation possible when necessary). We are specifically seeking someone who knows and understands the communities we serve — this role is not suitable for those based in metropolitan areas without regional knowledge.
Your Commitment
Attend bi-monthly Board meetings (in-person expected where possible)
- Participate in at least one key event per year
- Support Momentum’s fundraising and community-building goals
- Uphold governance responsibilities with care and collaboration
- Cover your own costs associated with the role
This is a voluntary, non-remunerated position — but the impact is immeasurable.
