Justice Connect’s Not-for-profit Law is Australia’s only dedicated community legal service for not-for-profits and charities. Our acclaimed self-help website (www.nfplaw.org.au) has over 300 legal resources and is the foundation of our service model. We offer legal advice and educational services to organisations across Australia, and advocate for improved standards and legal frameworks for the not-for-profit sector.
We also run a certified legal training social enterprise and deliver a dedicated service for Local Aboriginal Land Councils in NSW.

About the role
In this role you will work with a small team of lawyers and administrators in our certified social enterprise, Not-for-profit Law Training, to:
- Deliver high quality, engaging and interactive online and in-person training to external clients – primarily small to medium not-for-profit organisations
- Independently manage all aspects of training including client liaison, training proposals and quotations, preparation of training, delivery and evaluation
- Contribute to reviewing and updating existing training content and resources, and develop new modules to meet not-for-profit client needs
- Work with the team to build the reach and impact of our training social enterprise through stakeholder outreach, communications and new product ideas
Our ideal candidate
You’ll bring to the team experience in the following areas:
- 5 + years unsupervised practice as a lawyer (or equivalent experience in a legal role)
- You have an understanding of legal issues commonly faced by not-for-profit organisations (including experience in some of the following areas: governance; charity law; privacy law; volunteers and the law)
- You are client-centred and communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences to explain the law in plain language
- You like to work collaboratively in a small team that aims to achieve a big impact
- You are adept at planning and prioritising, and are flexible and agile when things change
- You are able to travel in Victoria and interstate and can work evenings from time to time

A week in this role
If you were here last week, you would have:
- Deliver inhouse board governance training for a national charity via Zoom
- Travel to regional Victoria to deliver training to community groups in a local government area
- Speak with clients about upcoming sessions and prepare training materials to send out
- Phone a few potential training clients to understand their needs and recommend a training program to meet these
- Participate in internal meetings with your Not-for-profit Law colleagues to discuss projects and current issues for the sector and identify ways to collaborate
- Draft a couple of webinar blurbs to promote on our website and in our monthly newsletter

Important role information
The position reports to the Manager of Training, Not-for-profit Law program.
Employment is part time (22.5 hours per week) fixed term until 30 June 2026.
The salary for this role is $117,184.35 per annum (pro rata) plus superannuation which will be paid according to statutory requirement with annual leave loading and generous salary packaging options.
This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office with 40% of the month in the workplace with hybrid working arrangements
