About the role
National Strategy Manager
- Full-time, 38 hours per week
- SCHADS Award – Level 6-7 (Depending on experience)
- Canberra with the option of hybrid / remote
- 12 months with the possibility of extension

We are looking for a National Strategy Manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to ensure the continued implementation of the National Strategy for Volunteering and delivery of Action Plan 2024-2027.
About the role
As a key member of Volunteering Australia’s Policy Team, you will provide effective stakeholder collaboration, ensuring smooth execution alongside technical specialists, and providing organisational administrative support during peak periods.
The role includes extensive collaboration with external contacts engaged in volunteering, including governments, communities, peak bodies, researchers, organisations, individual volunteers and within Volunteering Australia. The position may also be required to provide general policy support to the Policy Director.
The National Strategy Manager role is suited to someone with a diverse skillset across project management, stakeholder engagement, policy and advocacy, and organisational representation.
What you will bring:
- Strong representational and interpersonal skills, including experience building and maintaining relationships with diverse external stakeholders.
- Willingness to present and lead engagement on the National Strategy, with confidence, to large audiences.
- Political judgement and awareness of the broader policy context in which the National Strategy and Volunteering Australia’s work is couched.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to write to a professional standard.
In addition to this, you will have:
- Ability to alternate between collaborating with a team and progressing tasks independently.
- Excellent administrative and time management skills.
- Proficiency with modern office IT environments, including with Microsoft Office suite.
