The Organisation
The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is Victoria’s leading Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO), and the peak voice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. Established in 1977, VACCA has been protecting and promoting the rights, culture, and self-determination of Aboriginal children, young people, families, and communities for nearly 50 years.
Today, VACCA employs more than 1,200 staff and delivers over 100 programs across the state, making it the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. Its services span child and family support, early years, youth, cultural connection, justice, and community development.
The Role
Reporting to the Director and as a key member of the Executive Team, the Head of Fundraising & Philanthropy will lead VACCA’s fundraising strategy and execution. Managing a small team, you will drive philanthropic partnerships, develop innovative campaigns, and strengthen VACCA’s relationships with corporate supporters, donors, and community. You will also oversee VACCA’s shop and fundraising resources, ensuring all activities align with the organisation’s mission and values.
Key areas of accountability include:
- Philanthropy – engaging trusts, foundations, PAFs, high-net-worth individuals, and corporate partners.
- Community Fundraising & Events – leading initiatives such as NAIDOC Week, Christmas activities, and third-party fundraising.
- Campaigns & Appeals – designing and delivering impactful fundraising campaigns, including individual giving and donor stewardship.
The Candidate
You are an experienced and strategic fundraising leader who brings both vision and hands-on expertise. With a strong track record in philanthropy and charitable trusts, you are confident in navigating governance, compliance, and funding mechanisms. You can design innovative community fundraising and individual giving strategies, while also building enduring corporate and philanthropic partnerships.
Your skills include:
- Deep expertise in philanthropy, trusts/foundations, bequests, and corporate partnerships.
- Experience in creating and delivering successful fundraising campaigns and events.
- Strong donor management and database expertise, with a focus on process improvement and customer experience.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience in managing teams, risk, and reporting.
- A collaborative and culturally respectful approach, with the ability to represent VACCA’s mission and values with integrity.
The Offer
This is a unique opportunity to join one of Australia’s most respected ACCOs and play a pivotal role in supporting children, families, and communities across Victoria. The position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis with a salary of $145,000 plus superannuation, along with PBI/NFP salary packaging benefits.
