About the role

Community Engagement Lead 

At Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL), we are seeking a passionate Community Engagement Lead to join our dedicated Early Years team.

Location: Sunshine
Job Type: Maximum Term Full-Time working 38 hours per week
Salary: $122,960.12 – $128,093.62 per annum, based on skills and experience plus 12% superannuation.

About the role:
Join us in shaping the future of early childhood development as a Community Engagement Lead. In this pivotal role, you will supervise Community Connectors and Bi-Cultural Workers across multiple sites and be responsible for designing, implementing and overseeing a consistent community engagement and capacity building framework across BSL’s Early Years Integrated Approach.

Your efforts will foster sustainable relationships with families, communities and service providers, ensuring collaborative efforts that support family aspirations and enhance service accessibility in Early Childhood Education and Care. You’ll lead co-design processes with families, support culturally responsive and inclusive practices, and cultivate partnerships with local governments and sector experts to advocate for family-driven solutions.

• Supervise, mentor and support Community Connectors and Bi-Cultural Workers across sites
• Design, implement and oversee a consistent community engagement and capacity-building framework
• Build and maintain strong relationships with families, communities and service providers
• Lead co-design processes with families to ensure programs reflect their needs and aspirations
• Foster culturally responsive and inclusive practices and partnerships with governments and sector experts

What we are looking for
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion for supporting the mission of BSL and delivering excellence in your role.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who has the following key skills and experiences:
• Relevant tertiary qualification in community development, social sciences, early childhood, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Demonstrated experience in community engagement, capacity-building and stakeholder management
• Strong leadership skills with experience supervising and developing staff or volunteers
• Knowledge of culturally responsive and inclusive practices, particularly in early years services
• Ability to work strategically and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including families, communities, government and sector partners
