The Women’s Housing Company (WHC) Limited is a registered charity and Tier 1 Community Housing Provider managing over 1,200 properties, providing housing, accommodation, homelessness and support services for women and children in NSW.
Last year, we housed almost 2,200 women and children, as well as supported over 300 homeless women in our homelessness services. We have a particular focus on addressing the housing needs of older women, women with children, and women who have experienced domestic and family violence.

About the role
The Executive Manager, Finance & Risk, is a member of the Women’s Housing Company (WHC) Leadership Team. The role leads finance, compliance, reporting and monitoring, and risk management. This role is pivotal to ensuring longevity, sustainability and growth for the WHC.
The Executive Manager, Finance & Risk, assumes the role of Company Secretary, Public Officer and other official positions as required roles.
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours of Work: 35
Location: Surry Hills

Key Accountabilities
- Support the organisation’s success by contributing to the development and implementation of the strategic plan, producing innovative and robust business plans that achieve business outcomes.
- Lead the organisation’s risk and compliance framework by monitoring the internal and external environment to identify risks to the business and the housing sector and notify the CEO and Board of any issues that place the organisation at risk.
- Support the WHC to meet and manage its financial goals by leading the budget preparation process, setting financial KPI’s, and monitoring and reporting on adherence and financial results.
- Provide governance and legal oversight by acting as Company Secretary, supporting Board and Committee operations, coordinating legal advice, and ensuring compliance with insurance and regulatory requirements.
- Working with the technology team, drive the transition from manual processes to automated finance and risk and assurance management systems.
- Operate as part of the Leadership Team to drive a positive and collaborative workplace culture
- Support the Board and CEO to raise the profile and influence of the WHC by participating in networking events and forums by being an active member of the community housing sector.
Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge
- 10+ years post-graduate experience, including 5+ years as a successful leader in Finance and/or Risk and Assurance.
- CPA or CA with current professional membership; tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Finance.
- Strong technical accounting expertise (IFRS, AABS), audit standards, statutory reporting, and financial compliance.
- Proven ability to lead governance and risk frameworks; Company Secretary experience is highly regarded.
- Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering transformational change and improved business practices.
- Experience in not-for-profit or community housing sectors desirable
- Mandatory National Police Check
- Full, unrestricted Australian working rights.
