The Organisation
Based in the inner suburbs of Melbourne, very close to the CBD, our client is a sector-leading, innovative not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing practical support to disadvantaged members of our community.  They operate with a strong commercial focus, ensuring their vital services reach those who need them most.

The Position
The Executive Director – Risk, Governance & Projects reports to the CEO and is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for ensuring strategic alignment, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance across all areas of the organisation. The role oversees: governance, risk and compliance; business planning and projects; and environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives. The position leads a small multi-disciplinary team and drives systems improvement, operational performance, and cross-functional collaboration.

The Person
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Proven senior or executive leadership experience overseeing governance, organisational performance, risk, and compliance functions within a complex or regulated environment
  • Strategic and operational acumen, with demonstrated success in translating organisational goals into measurable business plans
  • Expertise in risk management, governance, and regulatory compliance, ideally within housing, community services, or the not-for-profit sector
  • Demonstrated capability in leading enterprise-wide projects and continuous improvement initiatives, integrating multiple disciplines into cohesive, high-performing teams
  • Values-driven leadership approach, showing high emotional intelligence, cultural competence, and a commitment to social equity, inclusion, and sustainable housing outcomes.
