The NSW State Government have recently funded a new program called Youth Frontiers. It is a mentoring program targeted at young people in Years 8 and/or 9 who are not achieving at their highest possible level in school and who would benefit from having a mentor. Each young person will develop and implement a community service project as part of the program.

Mentor training is provided. There are 3 half-day group sessions to attend throughout the program and a final half-day showcase to celebrate the achievements of the program.

This is an exciting opportunity to support young people and give back to your local community. So if you are a natural mentor (Aged 18-80) and are ready for a challenge, please forward a brief expression of interest (1-2 paragraphs) outlining why you would like to become a mentor, along with your contact details to julie@futureachievementaustralia.com.au

This year’s participants saw some great outcomes in their lives and for the community. The students grew in:

– confidence

– communication skills

– motivation

– capacity to relate to people from other generations

– resilience.

Students' projects and the program overall have become catalysts for other community initiatives and collaboration.
