Overview
Compass Housing Services is an enterprising, socially committed Not-For-Profit organisation with a 30 year history of providing a range of housing options as well as delivering a variety of successful community development and place-making initiatives to their communities. With net assets of $375m, income of $55m and 130 employees, Compass currently manages over 4,200 properties across regional New South Wales and Queensland and has recently opened an office in New Zealand.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Group Managing Director, The Group Chief Financial Officer is responsible for implementation and effective strategy and management of all financial and accounting functions of the group.
Key drivers are:
- Ensure service delivery is integrated within corporate objectives and delivering strategy in areas of fundraising, debt/equity, investment and accounting
- Accountability for achieving financial targets, and actively monitoring costs and adjusting services whilst prioritising options to meet financial targets.
- Focus on continual improvement by proactively reviewing and implementing financial/accounting and internal control systems
- Experience in developing financial information reporting systems which include budget preparation, forecasting variance analysis, lead indicator analysis and other information relevant to management and the Board
- Ensure compliance with legislative, taxation and statutory requirements
- Provide financial analysis and policy advice to the Group MD and Board in matters related to mergers and partnerships and trends in the market
- Deliver comprehensive financial reports to strict deadlines for the Group MD and Board
- Actively engage the team in developing a ‘can do’ culture that inspires a high service mindset
- Mentor and nurture a culture of ongoing learning to develop employee capabilities and meet changing needs
The Person
The successful person will be an open innovative leader, degree qualified CA or CPA with extensive experience in a senior financial role. An understanding of the NFP, social community and housing sectors would be highly regarded but not essential. In addition, well developed oral and written skills along with heightened responsive and listening skills will be equal to your intuitive and empathetic nature enhancing your natural professionalism. This role offers an excellent salary package commensurate with the position.
