The Organisation

Sunnyhaven Disability Services offers a range of accommodation, early intervention and day program options for people with a disability. Sunnyhaven has been in existence for over 65 years, providing individualised services for people living with disability, helping them to grow, thrive and assisting them to build on their strengths.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board, the Financial Controller is responsible for accounting and audit compliance, adherence to all industrial awards, agreements and contracts for services and ensuring the financial stability of the organisation through cost effective operations.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Creation of the annual budgets and monitoring/reporting outcomes
• Cost estimates for additional or extended services and the implications of the NDIS
• Provision of accurate and timely financial reports to the CEO, Board and other stakeholders
• Developing simple and effective systems and internal controls
• Manage the financial monitoring and reporting/acquittals of contracts
• Effective management of property and other assets
• Ensuring the accurate processing of payroll and accounting transactions

Skills Required

You are a qualified finance and accounting professional with significant experience in complex organisations.  Relevant hands on experience will include contract management, preparation of tender documents and activity based costing.  Other experience will include:

1. Tertiary qualifications in accounting, financial and/or business-relevant discipline and CA/CPA qualified
2. Previous experience in a senior finance role and member of an executive team
3. Substantial experience in creation and implementation of operational budgets and plans in an environment characterised by workforce and financial constraints
4. Systems implementation and process improvement

Experience in a not for profit organisation or disability services will be well regarded.
