The Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR) is the Victorian Government’s lead agency for creating the conditions to sustainably develop the Victorian economy and grow employment.
The position of Caseworker, sits within the International Education branch of the Sector Development and Programs division within the Economic Development, Employment and Innovation group. This group comprises of seven divisions and its focus is on enhancing economic development which is delivered in several ways. It provides investment attraction and facilitation assistance to attract new international and domestic investment as well as development assistance and facilitation services to Victorian exporters. It supports growth and change in regional Victoria through the provision of better infrastructure, facilities and services. It also positions and markets Victoria as a competitive destination for tourism as well as major events.
The SMSC is a key service delivered by the International Education Unit as part of the Student Experience Team. The Service provides information, professional support and referral to local services and community resources to international student studying in Victoria. The staff include a team of trained and experienced caseworkers, who work with a variety of international students on a daily basis to provide crisis intervention and case management.
As a Caseworker, you will work in the Study Melbourne Student Centre and help deliver the suite of crisis and welfare support services that respond to the needs of international students in a culturally sensitive manner, whilst they are studying in Victoria. You will have demonstrated experience providing high quality casework, crisis intervention and have worked independently, and as part of a small team. You will also be responsive and flexible in working to deliver the needs of the Student Experience Team including project activities.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a Fit2Work National Police Check prior to commencing employment with the Department.
