The organisation
Marine Rescue NSW is an essential emergency service that protects the NSW community by providing marine search and rescue response, monitoring marine radio traffic and delivering safety education programs for the State’s boating community. We have more than 3,000 volunteer members, whose mission is saving lives on the water.
Marine Rescue NSW is not a government agency but an independent Not-for-Profit organisation and registered charity. We are grateful to receive generous financial support from the State Government and boating community but still rely heavily on our fundraising efforts to provide our life-saving services.
The role
This is an exciting new opportunity for a motivated Grants Manager to use their skill and experience to develop and grow our income from government, corporate, philanthropic and community organisations, trusts and foundations. Specifically, the role will:
- Undertake research to identify and develop all potential sources of income from grants, trusts, foundations and donations
- Secure ongoing funding through the preparation and management of submissions to grant, trust, foundation and other financing programs
- Develop and manage a grants calendar and funding programs
- Work closely with volunteer units to assist them to develop and write grant and other funding applications.
- Develop and write grant and other funding applications at a corporate level.
- Report the outcome of applications.
- Develop and manage strong relationships with external funding bodies, staff and volunteers to assist in the planning and execution of submissions and final reports.
- Manage all acquittal and reporting expectations to external funding bodies.
Skills required
- Demonstrable experience in sourcing grants programs and other funding sources.
- Proven success in writing funding applications and donor-focused communications.
- Knowledge of the Australian grants and philanthropic giving environment and the ability to research funding opportunities.
- Highly developed communication (written, oral and presentation) skills.
- Ideally, experience in the Not-for-Profit sector.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and ability to work flexibly and as an effective team member to support volunteers dedicated to serving their community while maintaining high levels of sensitivity and confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with a diverse group of people, including high value donors and decision makers.
- Sound organisation and time management skills, including the demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities and expectations through multi-tasking, prioritising and problem solving.
- Current driver’s licence desirable.
