About the organisation
About the role
Act for Peace is the international aid agency of the National Council of Churches in Australia (NCCA), a council of 19 member churches. We are also a member of the global ACT Alliance which provides development and humanitarian assistance in more than 140 countries – enabling us to respond immediately to emergency situations and to advocate with global resources. Act for Peace’s vision is for a peaceful world where all people share a safe, just and dignified life. Our purpose is to empower passionate people to work together to achieve safety, justice and dignity in communities threatened by conflict and disaster.
With support from Act for Peace (AfP) and other agencies, our overseas partners assist people affected by conflict, disaster and displacement. Within our protection framework we have a strong focus on displaced communities, community-based disaster risk management and sustainable development. Our program staff provide capacity building for partners relating to both organisational and programmatic development and technical expertise. Our suite of programs includes field-based projects, organisational strengthening initiatives, advocacy and research initiatives. Staff are responsible for securing institutional donor funds as well as management of Agency funding. Most of our partners are long-term partners and include National Councils of Churches, their related aid agencies, and INGOs where technical expertise is required to support local agencies.
Act for Peace (AfP) has recently finalised its Strategic Plan for 2016-2021 and is reviewing our Policy Manual and Operations Manual, and rolling out various performance effectiveness measures to enhance our work and achieve our desired impact in communities affected by conflict, disaster and displacement. We are looking for an industry expert to assist us implementing our existing DFAT Re-Accreditation plan.
